Signs, Symptoms & How To Navigate A Midlife Crisis

If you’ve been asking yourself the question, “Am I having a Midlife Crisis?” because it’s dawned on you that the life that once made sense… suddenly doesn’t, you’re in the right place.

You might find yourself questioning everything on the daily:

Your work.
Your relationship.
Your identity.
Even the choices you once felt so certain about.

It can feel disorienting. Unsettling.
Like the ground beneath you has quietly disappeared.

And because no one really talks about this part…it’s easy to wonder: “What’s wrong with me?”

Let me say this clearly:

There is nothing wrong with you.

What you’re experiencing isn’t a breakdown (despite feeling like it), it’s actually the beginning stages of an awakening.

What Is a Midlife Awakening (And Why It Feels Like a Crisis)?

A midlife awakening often gets mislabeled as a “midlife crisis.”

But this isn’t about losing yourself.

It’s about the realisation that you’ve outgrown who you had to be.

For years — decades, even — you’ve likely been:

The capable one
The responsible one
The one who holds everything together

You built a life that worked.
You did what was expected.
You kept going.

But at some point, the deeper part of you begins to ask:

“But what about me?”

And that question doesn’t go away, it gets louder.

From a nervous system and identity perspective, this is huge.

Your system has been organised around safety, approval, and belonging.
Now, it’s being asked to reorganise around truth, self-trust, and inner authority.

Of course it feels like the ground beneath you is shaking.

Because it is.

Signs You’re in a Midlife Awakening

This doesn’t always arrive dramatically.
Sometimes it’s subtle at first; a quiet dissatisfaction you can’t quite name.

Other times, it hits like a wave.

You might recognise yourself in some of these:

  • You feel restless, even if your life looks “fine” on paper
  • You’ve lost motivation for things that used to matter to you
  • You’re questioning your career, relationship, or direction
  • You feel disconnected from yourself — like you don’t quite know who you are anymore
  • You’re more emotional, sensitive, or easily overwhelmed
  • You’re craving more meaning, depth, or freedom
  • You’re starting to see old patterns (people-pleasing, over-functioning, self-doubt) more clearly
  • You feel a pull towards something new… but you can’t yet name it

And perhaps the most confusing part: you don’t have clear answers.

Just a definitive knowing that something has to change.

Why This Phase Feels So Uncomfortable

Because you’re standing in the space between who you were… and who you’re becoming.

And that space?

It’s messy.

You haven’t fully let go of the old identity.
But you haven’t embodied the new one yet either.

This is what I often call the liminal space.

And in this space, your nervous system can feel:

Unsettled
Anxious
Dysregulated
Desperate for certainty

So it tries to pull you back into what’s familiar.

Overthinking.
Second-guessing.
Looking for external validation.

Because your nervous system feels safe doing what it’s always done.

How To Navigate a Midlife Awakening (Without Losing Yourself in the Process)

This is where most women try to think their way through it.

But this isn’t a thinking problem.

It’s a deep internal recalibration.

Here’s what actually helps:

1. Stop trying to rush clarity

You’re not behind.
You’re in a transition.

Clarity doesn’t come from forcing answers.
It comes from creating space for the answers to come through.

2. Learn to sit in the unknown

I know. Not sexy advice.

But this is where your next chapter is forming.

The more you resist this space, the harder it feels.
The more you allow it, the more it reveals.

3. Reconnect to your body

Your intuition doesn’t shout over your thoughts.

It speaks through sensation.
Through subtle knowing.

Slow down enough to hear it.

4. Notice your patterns without judging them

People-pleasing.
Over-functioning.
Self-doubt.

These aren’t flaws.

They’re strategies that once kept you safe.

Now, you get to decide what stays… and what doesn’t.

5. Prioritise self-trust over external validation

This is the real shift.

From: “Am I doing this right?” to “Is this right for me?”

You’re Not Breaking Down — You’re Becoming

This part matters.

Because when everything feels uncertain, your mind will try to label it as a problem.

But this isn’t a failure.

It’s an initiation.

A shedding.

A return to yourself.

And yes, it feels uncomfortable, lonely, even.

But it’s also where your power lives.

How I Can Support You Through This

This is the work I do.

Not surface-level mindset shifts.
Not “just think positive” advice.

But deep, grounded support that helps you actually move through this phase rather than staying stuck looping in it.

Through my 1:1 coaching and Soul Reset sessions, we work with:

Your nervous system
Your patterns and conditioning
The deeper emotional and energetic layers keeping you stuck

So you can:

  • Reconnect to your inner authority
  • Trust yourself again
  • Move forward with clarity (without forcing it)
  • Create a life that actually feels like yours

If this is where you are right now… you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Final Thought

If you take nothing else from this, take this:

Feeling lost doesn’t mean you’re off track.

It often means you’ve outgrown the path you were on.

And something deeper is asking for your attention.

Not to break you.

But to bring you home to yourself.
