Every time you’ve felt overwhelmed, foggy or reactive under pressure, you’ve experienced your nervous system in stress mode. I can certainly understand the abject discomfort of having my nervous system stuck in stress mode; I hit burnout in 2016. The good news is, you don’t have to stay stuck there. With HeartMath techniques, you can train your body and mind to reset, reduce stress and improve your focus in just a few minutes a day.

What Is HeartMath?

HeartMath is a science-based system of stress management and nervous system regulation techniques that improve mental clarity, build resilience and emotional well-being.

At the core of HeartMath is research on heart rate variability (HRV) which is the natural variation in the time between each heartbeat – contrary to what you might think, our hearts don’t beat at a consistent speed. When you’re stressed or anxious your HRV is erratic. When you’re calm and balanced, HRV shifts into a smooth pattern called coherence.

In coherence, your heart, brain and nervous system are in sync giving you access to clearer thinking, better decision making and greater emotional stability.

How HeartMath Works

Through simple breathing and internal focus techniques and (optionally) HeartMath’s biofeedback tools, you can shift into coherence quickly. With practice, these techniques train your nervous system to:

  • Reset faster after stressful situations
  • Stay calmer under pressure
  • Improve focus and productivity
  • Make clearer decisions
  • Reduce anxiety and overwhelm
